India and England take on each other in the 5th Test in Edgbaston, Birmingham starting from July 1. India are leading the series 2-1 with victories at Lord’s and The Oval in 2021. England won the Headingley Test after the first Test in Trent Bridge ended in a draw.
India are looking for their first Test series win on English soil since 2007. Back then Rahul Dravid led India to a 1-0 series win. Years down the line, today he is the head coach of the Indian cricket team. He has a task on his hand against a formidable England side under the McCullum-Stokes.
As a side, they are fresh from a 3-0 series win against New Zealand. England skipper Ben Stokes also spoke about playing with the same aggressive intent against India in Edgbaston.
Speaking about both sides, India is struggling with the availability of their skipper Rohit Sharma after he contracted covid. With just over 24 hours to go an update on his availability is awaited. KL Rahul is also missing from the squad after being named originally. The rest of the players in the squad are fit and raring to go.
England have no injury concerns, They have added Sam Billings to their Test squad for the 5th Test. The rest of the squad remains the same that played the New Zealand series. They have played with an ultra-aggressive approach against the Kwis which they are looking to keep intact against India as well. Kevin Pietersen seems,s hugely impressed by England’s approach.
