India Tour of West Indies: Team India to arrive in Caribbean via charter flight on TODAY, short vacation for Rohit Sharma: Follow Live Updates

 India Tour of West Indies: India vs WestIndies LIVE: The England tour is done and Team India will now head to the Caribbeans for a three-match ODI and 5-match T20 tour. The BCCI has arranged a charter flight for the entire Shikhar squad. The Shikhar Dhawan-led ODI squad will board the flight on Monday from Manchester. However, those who have been rested from the ODIs including captain Rohit Sharma will have a short vacation. Follow IND vs WI LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.


The 16-member ODI squad will be joined by Sanju Samson, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill. The three were not part of the ODI series against England. They have been asked to reach Port of Spain in Trinidad & Tobago by Tuesday. The rest of the squad including the coaching staff comprising head coach Rahul Dravid will fly directly from Manchester on Tuesday.


However, Virat Kohli, who has taken a break and is not part of the West Indies Tour, will stay back in London. His family will join him and they will move to an undisclosed location in England. He will only be back for the Asia Cup, slated to begin on August 27.

The players who are in England will fly to the Caribbean directly in a charter flight. The rest will assemble in Port of Spain by July 19.

BCCI has gone the charter flight route to avoid any COVID-19 cases.

Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODI squad in Rohit Sharma’s absence.

Two other captains, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah have also been rested while Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to be a miss in the ODI squad.

Shubman Gill has been recalled to the ODI squad.

Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as vice-captain for the ODI side.

For the T20 series, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dinesh Karthik, Avesh Khan and Harshal Patel will rejoin the squad.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have also been rested for the entire series.

The players in the T20 squad have been granted a short vacation.

Rohit Sharma with his family will travel to Caribbean for a short vacation and will join the squad before the T20 series, starting July 29.

Virat Kohli has been rested from the entire tour.
