IND vs WI 3rd ODI Highlights: After two nail-biting encounters, it was one-way traffic for India in the third ODI against West Indies in Port of Spain on Wednesday. The visitors, who opted to bat first, piled 225/3 in 36 overs with rain affecting the Indian innings in two patches. Soon after the delay the DLS method came into play and West Indies were required to chase 257 in 35 overs. However, the hosts could only manage 137 in response as India won the contest by 119 runs (DLS method). Yuzvendra Chahal was the standout bowler from the Indian camp as he picked four wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur shared two wickets each. Earlier in the day rain left Shubman Gill stranded on 98 in the same number of balls. Shikhar Dhawan scored 58(74), while Shreyas Iyer fired 44 in 34 balls.

India created a World record on Sunday by sealing their 12th consecutive series win in the ODI format against the West Indies — the most against a team.

India Team News: Head coach Rahul Dravid might be tempted to try out some of his reserve players. But he will have to maintain a fine balance between keeping the momentum and testing his bench strength.

In the batting department, it is unlikely that Ruturaj Gaikwad would be preferred over Shubman Gill. He would not like to sit out after scoring 64 and 43 in two innings.

Gaikwad had got a full South Africa series where he looked distinctly uncomfortable against quality pace. While his IPL credentials have kept him in the mix, chances of Indian cricket establishment investing in him on short term basis look dim.

Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson have also hit the straps with fifties in last game and Suryakumar Yadav is not expected to cool his heels at the expense of Ishan Kishan despite his twin failures in the first two games.

Kishan is seen as a timer of the ball who can use the Powerplay overs well by hitting over the in-field. He isn’t a power hitter who can force the pace after 35th over and hence Samson is a better option despite him being a left hander.

WI vs IND: 3 Changes India might make for the 3rd ODI

Having sealed the three-match series 2-0 already, India are likely to test their bench strength and give opportunities to other players who deserve chances for the upcoming third ODI against West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain. India found a way out of trouble in both the games as West Indies gave the visitors a real scare and two different heroes arrived on the stage.

Axar Patel had a fantastic outing in the previous game and he showed his brutal power-hitting skills down the order with an unbeaten 35-ball 64 in crunch time when the team needed him the most. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan has rotated his bowlers wisely and has got the most out of his sixth bowling option in Deepak Hooda in both the games.

With the bat, except Suryakumar Yadav, the other batters in the top six have got runs, and Shreyas Iyer in particular has looked quite comfortable. Shubman Gill and Sanju Samson, finally have got runs to prove their talent in international cricket and will be hoping to end the series on a good note.

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad – IN; Shubman Gill – OUT

Shubman Gill has looked solid in both the games so far and is certainly making a statement for the future. The right-hander has scores of 64 and 43 in the two ODIs and has looked quite positive from the upfront. He has got all the shots in the book and has taken advantage of the powerplay with Dhawan taking his time from the other end.

2. Ishan Kishan- IN; Sanju Samson – OUT

This will be a like-for-like replacement as Ishan Kishan can replace Sanju Samson for the wicketkeeper role after the latter’s important half-century in the previous game. Samson has been in excellent touch in recent times and he played a key role in India winning the first ODI when he stopped a wide delivery from going for a boundary with a full dive.

3. Arshdeep Singh – IN; Mohammed Siraj – OUT

Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh is yet to make an appearance in the ODI format for India and he does deserve a chance in the playing XI. Arshdeep’s death-over skills were quite phenomenal in this IPL and he did bowl well in the one T20I he played against England in the three-match series.

Van der Dussen ton condemns Ben Stokes to farewell defeat as SA spinners turn screw

Rassie van der Dussen was the coolest man on the park and scored his third ODI century, a career-best 134, as South Africa posted their highest ODI score in England and the second-highest at Chester-le-Street. That asked England to complete their sixth-highest successful run-chase but South Africa's spinners, in particular, combined discipline and attack to seal a statement win. Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi and Aiden Markram bowled 15 overs and took five for 120 between them.

Though this series does not count for World Cup Super League points, it is the start of an important eight months for South Africa which includes tours to England and Australia and the T20 World Cup. They began it without regular white-ball captain Temba Bavuma, who injured his elbow ahead of this trip, but Maharaj's decision-making was flawless from the moment he won the toss and chose to shield his fielders from the afternoon sun.

South Africa made England's attack toil on a benign pitch, and without the services of debutant Matthew Potts for the bulk of their innings. Potts bowled four overs upfront but left the field after feeling adverse effects from the heat but returned to bat at No.11. The rest of the quicks delivered mostly short spells - aside from Sam Curran's five-over spell at the start - with the spinners Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid doing the longer slogs.

None of them were entirely threatening against South Africa's line-up, who seemed to labour at times, but ended up with more than enough. South Africa did not hit a single six but relied on the accumulating skills of Janneman Malan, who scored his fourth fifty in the format and shared in a 109-run second-wicket stand with van der Dussen, a paragon of patience. Being no master-blaster, van der Dussen ran 57 singles, 15 twos and two threes and batted for three minutes short of three hours to put together a masterful hundred and set up a big win. Van der Dussen also shared in a record third-wicket stand of 151 for South Africa against England with Markram, who scored his fifth 50.

While there did not seem to be many fireworks in the South African innings, they took on the spinners, used the reverse-sweep to good effect, and rode out the periods of pressure. When Malan was dismissed, England put the brakes on and South Africa only scored 31 runs in the next six overs, but that allowed Markram to settle. Once he did, he targeted the sixth bowling option and scored 21 runs off 15 balls he faced from Liam Livingstone.
